Field Traumatology

Course Goals:

This course is for therapists, chaplains, nurses, social workers, school counselors, teachers, ministers, first responders, EAP staff and other professional care-givers who work with those dealing with the impact of  traumatic events. Along with three free online FEMA courses (IS-7, A Citizen's Guide to Disaster, IS-700, National Incident Management System, and IS-100, Introduction to Incident Command), it also fulfills requirements for certification as Field Traumatologist with the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology. 

  • Prepare participants to lessen the  impact of a disaster or critical incident on individuals, families, groups and communities

  • Affirm and expand professional competencies in the provision of crisis intervention services

  • Facilitate health and well-being of professional caregivers through education, networking, support and self-care measures

  • Prepare participants for future deployment opportunities in post-disaster locations through training

  • Fulfill partial criteria for certification as Field Traumatologist with the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology

Date: Thursday and Friday, August 21-22, 2008

Schedule: Thursday: Registration and coffee: 7:45 a.m.  Seminar: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Lunch on your own)

Cost: The course fee is $225. Course fee is discounted to $195 ($125 for students) if registration is received on or before August 8th. Pre-registration is required and completed with payment via credit card or check. For five or more registering prior to August 8th, from the same agency at the same time, the course fee is $175 per person. Registration fee includes a printed manual.

Refund and Cancellation Policy: Registrations cancelled on or before August 8th are subject to a handling fee of $35. No refund will be granted after August 8th, but participants may apply the fee to a future seminar.

CEUs: 15 contact hours have been approved for the following credentials: LMFT, LBP, LPC and LCSW.
